Losing your hearing, or becoming deaf, is a huge life change. Technology is fantastic, but it doesn’t always solve everything.
As hearing loss is invisible, no one else knows what a struggle it can be on a daily basis. Lack of understanding and the attitudes of others can take an emotional toll.
Not being able to hear conversations is isolating.
Feeling left out of social situations or not following what’s being said can make you feel separate from everyone else.
The constant worry that you will mishear something or make a mistake can cause stress and anxiety.
Perhaps you’re starting to withdraw from family and friends, or apologising all the time for not being able to hear.
You may feel anger or sadness about what’s happened and try to avoid getting help.
You may worry that it will get worse.
You may feel less engaged with the world around you.
You may feel that your goals and dreams are now out of reach.
But many deaf and hard of hearing people live rich, fulfilling lives. They embrace who they are, without apology.
I want this for you.
Coaching can help you to come to terms with what’s happened and stop you from getting pulled around by difficult feelings. I help people with hearing loss to move forwards and live a purposeful life.
How does coaching work?
During our coaching sessions we can create a plan for moving forwards. This could include:
Gaining the skills and confidence to advocate for yourself so your needs are met.
Working out communication strategies to support you in different situations.
Setting boundaries and priorities.
Creating a self care plan to improve your wellbeing
Building resilience skills and planning your future

“In the space of time I had with Sue coaching me, she helped me to understand my own strengths, desires, weaknesses and how to convert the energy that was holding me down and pinning me to a negative outlook, into a wealth of self understanding, self care and determination to take the steps I wanted to in all aspects in my life.”
“I would 100% encourage working with Sue to help yourself in any area you’re finding it hard, as I found myself extremely receptive to her methods, and felt a great sense of reward and optimism, that this coaching gave me the tools to grow. This has been one of the best years I’ve experienced so far in my life and so much of it is thanks to Sue’s Life coaching”
